Sometimes the hardest part of returning to Colombia is the time leading up to the trip…preparing not only logistically but emotionally and spiritually. Taking a glimpse of what perhaps your life could have been, rediscovering parts of your identity, and embracing aspects of yourself that may have been ignored or overlooked by adoptive family or other loved ones is not for the faint of heart. The 2nd annual Bogotá meet up was about community, belonging, and celebrating who we are. I am and was honored to host this amazing group of about 20 Colombian adoptees who took the leap to reconnect with their homeland and themselves.
